Cultural Tech Kids Camp - Monday, Oct 10, 2022

Sunset Spark is opening their creative studio on school holidays during the 2022-23 school year for kids camps and other special events. With recent DOE budget cuts, these camps and workshop are serving as very necessary fundraisers for our programs at public schools in Sunset Park.

For Indigenious People's Day / Italian Heritage Day, we're hosting a Cultural Technology Camp. Kids will learn about different cultures and their important contributions to science and technology throughout history.

In spirit of the day, we'll be focusing on indigenous peoples of the Americas and Italian historical figures. We have thoughtful lessons with hands on activities pulled from our in-house curricula that highlight their rich cultural heritage in the advancement of art, science, and technology, including neuroscience, biology, sculpting, and tatooing.

  • The camp is Monday, Oct 10, 2022.
  • The camp runs from 9am-3pm.
  • 2nd-5th grade students
  • Limited to 8 kids
  • Pizza and snacks provided (or bring your own)
  • Drop off and pickup at our studio in Industry City
  • Non-refundable (but you can use ticket for a future event)

As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, a portion of your registration fee serves as a tax-deductible donation for our technology programs in the community. Between the post-pandemic recession and DOE budget cuts, 2022 has been a difficult year for our organization. All of our programs have been free for families since our start 10 years ago. Until this year, we have never charged families to participate in our programs. Sunset Spark is in critical need of donations to continue our high quality programs at schools in the community.

The camps are taught by Yadira and Gaelen Hadlett. They have taught creative technology to over 25,000 students in Sunset Park over the last 10 years.

Purchase tickets below. Each ticket price gets you the same great program from Sunset Spark, but includes extra donation so that we can continue our work in public schools. For individual donations, visit our donation page.
